Bee Sting Remedy
A good bee sting remedy focuses on the following:
- Removing the stinger completely
- Easing the pain
- Monitoring the person for shock and allergic reaction
Honeybees generally don’t sting unless they are threatened, but when world’s collide…. they die…and we suffer…. but then again, hornets sting, just to sting…a mean spirited specie of stingers…
Here is my tried and true bee sting remedy
- Immediately put ice-cold water on a bee sting to distract from the pain and constrict the blood vessels around the sting. It feels like you are on fire and the coldness seems to immediately give you some relief.
- Never assume that the person cannot go into an allergic shock from the bee sting. Monitor alertness, and pay attention if the person complains of faintness, palpitations, or turns pale or clammy. Call 911 if you think you need to. Better to be safe than sorry. Shock is a medical emergency.
- If the person is not in shock, but merely frightened and crying from being stung, then give them a mild relaxant like
Bach Remedy Rescue
under the tongue. Both children and adults can have this. (It is homeopathic and has been found to be safe even if the person is on other medications).
- Spray on Bactine spray to deaden the pain so that you can go to work removing the throbbing, barbed stinger by scrapping with a credit card. Do not squeeze on the stinger, or you will drive it in further. (You can also get an extraction kit later to keep on hand that makes this task easy. Good for snake bites too.)
- Once you get the stinger out, flush the wound with hydrogen peroxide and apply some soothing
slippery
elm bark extract
(anti-inflammatory) or some aloe vera gel . (If you don’t have a medicinal aloe vera plant, it’s high time to get one!)
- Help the person to rest quietly and monitor them for delayed shock. Give them a very nice hug!
- If you can’t get someone to remove the nests, then spray them in the evening with a strong dishwashing solution in a pump sprayer. This is a natural bug killer and it works! But don’t get in your eyes!
