Gout Remedy
Gout is different from arthritis, and so is a gout remedy. Yes, both conditions produce pain, swelling joints, but gout is primarily an acid imbalance
disorder.
Everyone knows how critical protein is for the body. We can live without starches, but we certainly can’t live long without protein. A byproduct (a waste product) of protein metabolism is uric acid. When the kidneys are functioning poorly, they do a poor job of getting rid of uric acid. It just doesn’t build up in the blood, it settles in the joints, and accumulates in the joint fluid. When the fluid becomes so saturated with uric acid, it crystallizes and then inflammation begins to try and protect the joint from the jagged edged crystals.
Sometimes the amount of the crystals become so profuse that they bulge out of the joint into what is called a “gouty tophus”, which is white looking bump that can be quite painful.
Gout is truly a painful condition in which we hurt if even a piece of paper were to touch our swollen joints.
What are the main causes of a gout flare-up and what is a good gout remedy?
- Sugar-because high insulin production alters the way our bodies metabolize and get rid of uric acid. High sugar spells high uric acid. Eliminate sugar.
- Fructose in fruit naturally increases uric acid production. Be spare with fruit, or eat low sugar fruits such as raw cherries, blueberries, and strawberries.
- Don’t take high doses of flush free niacin (to lower cholesterol or because you think you have arthritis) because it can cause a gout flare up. The breakdown of niacin competes with uric acid as a waste product normally disbursed by the kidneys.
- Anything that contains purines (alcohol, especially beer, red meat, organ meats, peas, lentils, beans and egg yolk.) increases uric acid production because the body uses purines to make uric acid. High purines spell high uric acid. Avoid purines. Eat turkey, egg whites, whey shakes, and all of the other vegetables.
- Take 4000 mg. in divided dosages of Vitamin C (Ester C)
daily to control uric acid production and buffer the blood’s ph.
