Home Remedy for Nausea
A good home remedy for nausea focuses upon understanding what causes nausea and how to correct it.
Most people who come to me asking for nausea relief suffer from motion sickness. Go to my
Motion
Sickness page to learn more about this.
But….if you are NOT concerned about motion sickness, then read on….
Please Note: This report is not intended to delay your reporting to your physician if you develop nausea after taking a medication. Nausea could be an important signal that you are not supposed to take that particular medication. It’s important to report such a detail. In fact, if you have ANY concerns about your medication, or if you are not sure how to properly take your medication, call the doctor.
It’s best to err on the side of safety on this issue. You also need to see a physician if you think you may be pregnant. Pregnant women can experience nausea any time of day, not just in the morning. Early prenatal care is the foundation of a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Go to my
Morning
Sickness Remedies page to learn more about combating normal pregnancy morning sickness.
I always get concerned when people report unexplained nausea to me. Several disorders spring to mind when I think of the causes of nausea:
- Undiagnosed ulcers that are bleeding internally. The blood makes people nauseous. Some people report a metallic smell. Blood smells metallic because of its iron content.
- Incomplete digestion (indigestion) where the food is about to be vomited because it has not digested properly and cannot continue toward digestion in its present state.
- Gall stones that may be blocking the bile duct. Bile is secreted through the bile duct to break down fats during digestion. When cholesterol gall bladder gravel, or a cholesterol gallstone blocks the duct, this makes a person nauseous and lead to vomiting. Inflammation of the gallbladder due to disease, or certain drugs can also lead to nausea.
- Liver problems: hepatitis due to viral hepatitis, alcohol poisoning, fatty liver, or a toxic, congested liver that needs detoxifying.
- Lead poisoning, especially in children. I saw several children that complained of nausea and recommended that they get tested for lead poisoning. Their test results were off the chart. All of these children went to the same school. The school nurse and pediatricians labeled it “anxiety”. When the test results came back, the hunt was on to find the source.
I gave them a list of the uncommon sources of lead. The culprit was one reading teacher who turned bread bags inside out to make little bags for drawing kits and little food snacks used for rewards. She had no idea that the paint on the outside of the bread bag contained lead. When the bag was turned inside out, the contents came into contact with the leaded paint and exposed the children. (She cried and was horrified. I felt so sorry for her.
It grieves me to see little teachers using their own nickels and dollars to buy supplies for their students. They have to beg for every dollar from their school to teach properly. Their pay is awful for what they do, and one day there will be a reckoning on how they have been treated. We have millions for sports programs and yet, we think nothing of tying the hands of our teachers who face death just showing up to teach. What is wrong with this picture? One day there will be a reckoning….)
Now, I know I can give you solutions to combating acute nausea, but I think you had better seriously think about this and consult a physician. If all tests come back negative (no hepatitis, no liver tumors or cancer, no ulcers, etc.) and it’s just your congested liver needing detoxification, then that’s a good thing. That’s something we can work on.
For liver detoxification, and overall detoxification, I recommend Natures Secret Liver Cleanse
. You may feel slightly sick at first due to stimulation of your toxic organs, but it will pass and you will once again feel vital as you once did. It pays to detoxify!!!!
