Here is my tried and true Home Remedy for Sore Throat:First gargle with a strong solution of warm salt water, or diluted hydrogen peroxide to kill as many pathogens as possible.Secondly, medicinally “coat” the throat with Slippery Elm Bark liquid mixed with water. Any type of mucous lined membrane inflammation seems to respond to this gentle, slippery feeling liquid. Also I like coat a sore throat with Traditional Medicinal Throat Coat Tea tea. You may add some honey to it to further coat and moisturize the inflamed throat. Honey is both anti-bacterial and very soothing to inflamed tissues, both inside and outside of the body. (Try it on burns… it works!) Thirdly, avoid all forms of sugar or refined carbohydrates. Put a little honey in a hot lemon, or ginger tea for further comfort, but avoid sugar. Fourthly, soak a washcloth in a hot solution of Camphor or Eucalyptus oils infused sink water and place the hot washcloth on the outside of the throat. Place some Vick’s salve, Peppermint oil, or Eucalyptus (diluted) oils on the nostrils and outside of the throat. Do not breathe the boiled vapors of Vick’s salve because of the solvents and petroleum chemicals. If you feel that your sore throat is very bad, then swallow 1 tsp. of liquid colloidal silver, as a natural antibiotic, three times a day. Hold on your throat as long as possible before swallowing. Take a hot bath and immerse as much of your throat as possible in the water. Lymph nodes are very close to the surface and they respond to heat. Blood heating also destroys virus and bacteria.
